Jas and Dave's excellent adventure
July 1, 2006. - Andover Nj.
Having completed an unprecedented 2nd official
"super-swim' inside 2 years, we were ready
to explore the hillside. Not an
ordinary hillside, tho, in fact, one
equipped with a "mystery object," as
discovered by jas, some time before while
taking a "google earth" time out while in
brazil. An object definately worth a
closer look. Dave thought
it looked like some weird pool,
jas was thinking a
building...

We wandered through the outdoor 7th day
adventists convention, of 5000 strong,
located at the base of our hike. As we
did our best to blend in, Jas noted that it
was reasuring to know, that we would have
the sounds of singing to guide us back to
safety in the advent of our handheld gps
unit malfunctioning.
After |
|
perhaps a hour, of wandering
through significant prickle-bushes, it
became clear that we were indeed having gps
issues, best coined as "user error."
but as fate would have it, we were to
stumble upon a nicely troddened road, which
finally lead to our mystery object...our destination.
It was the road in which we started up on, but thats another story.
|
 |
|
perhaps not the best route..
Hello, what's this?
.. |
 |
 |
..doesn't look like a pool, more like some bunker..
|
but the GPS confirms it...
|
|
the
mystery object turned
out to be a cistern,
or a water tower buried
into the side of the hill.
It was never
quite agreed upon as to
whether it was still
operational, but through |
 |
|
an access hatch, it had a good 10 feet of crystal clear, mediterranean looking,
"inviting" water. perhaps jas
tells it better..
