Old dude crashes our house
July
7, 2004 - 6672 Roger Stevens
rd.
Well i was on only gone for
perhaps a half hour to get some
grocerys before returning to the
scene. It was
a picture of
confusion, as i was forced to
park my car halfway down the
driveway due to an obstructing
tree lying across the path.
It looked as if there was a car
growing out of the corner of the
garage; car parts
and field scrub
littered all over
and there was a
bloody looking old
guy stumbling around.
Neighbour Bruce had
been first on the
scene, now running at me
in an apparent state of panic, claiming
something about not being able
to get into house to use the
phone.

...zooom

My few moments
of frozen awe immediately ended and i approached the aged couple,
who were in the
crash, and asked the redundant question
"is everyone all right?"
The lady's strong reply of "does
it look like we're ok!?" was
answer enough. Brucey
then got
through on his cell phone
for help, and
we got the old guy a chair from
the basement, and a roll of
paper towels for the blood.
It was only a short
wait for the 2 ambulences, 2
firetrucks, 3 cop cars, about 5 extra firemen,
and more than a few of curious
motorists.

It
was interesting to note later
how the nice old dude (92
yrs) got
all the attention (maybe it was
all the blood) and his wife just
stood there leaning on the car,
with her arms crossed, acting
all cranky. It turned out
later that she got the worst of
it; a couple broken ribs,
broken collar bone, and i can't
remember the rest.
The man
only had a cut on
his forehead head and
welt on his thumb.

aren't seatbelts supposed to

oh
the poor garage |
'would' have been quite a
'first
site' from the front door view
here..

They never quite figured out
what happened. A straight
200 meters of off roading, across
three lawns, 3 driveways and one
field, with no signs of
braking; the conclusion was he
either fell asleep or had a mini
stroke. I don't imagine
he'll drive again.
