The inviting waters of Carleton Place

August 20, 2006. - Carleton Place, Ontario

Well, i'm not entirely ashamed to admit that we didn't act like quintessential 30 year olds this past weekend.  Sometimes, though, the thrill of the adventure sends all propriety out the window.

This tale involves taking on the raging Carleton Place waterways.  After our boating plans were foiled by finding a mere 4" of water at our planned location, we had to take what we got.  There seemed to be more hiking that boating involved in this particular outing, but none the less, we had our fun, and entertained a few passerbyers along the way.

maybe we should have gone the other direction...   loading up and ready to go

some nice natural scenery along the way.. ditto..

Unfortunatly, the poor camera took yet another dunking, as it was hanging around the neck of the kayak operator, who was unsuccessfully attempting to negotiate some turbulent waters. so it missed out on some good shots, but it came back to, a couple hours later, for some more shots.

downtown must be near..   what a great location

this town seems to provide no place to tie up boats   what a strange place to have a picnic

having forgotten our picnic basket, clearly only one choice remained.. (picnicsurf vid)   perfect hiking, although Ralph thought that log was a little slippery on the way down.. (walk the falls vid)

just chillin' by the falls (5.3mb)
picnic surfing (15.7mb)
walking the falls (10.3mb)
buttsurfing (5.9mb)
